The Rehearsal follows a director who, while researching and writing about Elizabeth Bathory, becomes convinced that she was innocent and framed by the Hungarian government. During rehearsals, he discovers his apprentice hasn’t fully read or studied the script, leading to his mental unraveling. As the director spirals, Elizabeth Bathory returns from the dead to take revenge on him for trying to rewrite her history—of which she is terrifyingly proud.
